BRAND:
Hjc helmet provides an economical, stylish and safe alternative to more
expensive brands. Almost all Hjc helmets are manufactured to SNELL M2005 and DOT
standards for increased safety and reliability. The Hjc brand is the most
popular mid-range helmet sold in the USA. The appeal is that you get a
relatively comfortable helmet, good ventilation and great racer graphics.
SELECTION:
For 2007, Hjc helmet
introduced the CL-SP Type O. The CL SP Type O has one of the most unique
finishes we have seen on any helmet. It has a flat finish, meaning not a gloss
shine, with embedded graphics that are only fully appreciated when you see one up
close. The Hjc AC 12 Carbon Fiber helmet is a huge hit with SportBike riders and
sell out almost as fast as we can put them into stock. For 2007, more Ben Spies
graphics are available in Carbon Fiber. The Hjc Symax is the most popular
modular helmet we sell. It offers a flip-up chin, great ventilation and
reasonable price. The only drawback with a modular helmet is that SNELL will not
certify them so you only get DOT certification on the Symax and CL Max modular
Hjc helmets.
FIT:
All Hjc helmets fit very comfortable with a true street fit. They are not snug
or very heavily padded so you will find the fit loose at high speeds of over
100mph and might experience some wobble if you raise your head during high speed
runs. But for general highway speed riding the Hjc is great.
PERFORMANCE: The Hjc helmet is a mid-range helmet offering average street
performance. Although most models are both DOT and SNELL approved, it is not a
track helmet. We recommend a higher performance helmet for track use or if you
like to redline on the highways. We have 'road tested' a few full face Hjc
helmets and they hold up fine under slower speed crashes.
RETURN
RATE: We get an average return rate for Hjc helmets with almost all
returns for sizing. We have never had a Hjc returned to us for warranty
replacement or because a customer was not satisfied with Hjc quality. If your
expectation is that you are purchasing a mid range helmet then you will be happy
with a Hjc helmet.
OUR
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend Hjc helmets if you want a general purpose
street helmet and you are not a high risk rider. We do not recommend a Hjc for
track or high speed street use - the construction of the padding and the
aerodynamics are just not adequate for high speed riding or high impact
accidents.
